Ms. Lavanya Mundayur Recommended by FSIB for NIACL CMD Role

New Delhi: The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended Ms. Lavanya Mundayur for the position of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of The New India Assurance Company Limited (NIACL).

In an official statement issued on May 28, 2026, FSIB said it interacted with six eligible candidates for the top leadership position at NIACL. The selection process was conducted based on candidates’ performance during the interface, overall experience, and other prescribed evaluation parameters.

Following the assessment process, the Bureau recommended Lavanya Mundayur for appointment as CMD of the state-owned general insurance company.

NIACL is one of India’s largest public sector general insurers and operates across domestic as well as international markets. The appointment of a new CMD is considered significant for the company’s strategic direction, growth initiatives, and operational leadership.

The recommendation by FSIB will now be forwarded to the government for further approval and appointment formalities.
