New Delhi, May 28, 2026: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EdCIL (India) Limited to establish Smart Digital Classrooms in schools located around SAIL’s operational areas as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The agreement was signed on May 26, 2026, with the objective of promoting inclusive and quality education through technology-enabled learning infrastructure.

SAIL, a Maharatna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel and India’s largest public sector steel producer, said the initiative aims to improve learning outcomes and strengthen access to digital education in underserved regions.

EdCIL (India) Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Education, will support the implementation of the Smart Digital Classroom project in identified schools.

The initiative is aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4), which focuses on ensuring inclusive, equitable and quality education along with lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri K. K. Singh, Director (Personnel), SAIL. Senior officials from both SAIL and EdCIL were also present during the signing ceremony.

Through the collaboration, SAIL and EdCIL aim to strengthen digital learning ecosystems in schools by integrating modern educational tools and technology-driven teaching methods, particularly in areas surrounding SAIL’s industrial operations.
