Bharat Dynamics Limited Appoints Commodore Sujay Kapoor (Retd.) as Director (Production)

Hyderabad, March 6, 2026 – Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a leading PSU under the Ministry of Defence, today announced that Commodore Sujay Kapoor (Retd.) has assumed charge as Director (Production) on its Board, effective 6th March 2026.

The appointment was formalized following a notification from the Ministry of Defence and is in line with BDL’s strategic objective to enhance indigenisation and strengthen production capabilities for India’s defence forces.

Distinguished Profile of Commodore Sujay Kapoor

Commodore Kapoor is a Mechanical Engineer with advanced qualifications, including an MBA, MSc, and MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies, bringing over 30 years of experience in the Indian Navy. Before joining BDL, he served as Commodore (Armament Production and Indigenisation) at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi.

Key contributions during his naval career include:

Leading indigenisation of anti-submarine rockets, anti-missile defence systems, torpedoes, and fuzes.
Developing critical missile and torpedo electronic components, naval mines, decoys, and life-saving pyrotechnic stores.
Implementing robust Quality Management Systems across naval production units, Ordnance Factories, DRDO labs, and MSMEs.
Strengthening process reliability, compliance, and operational readiness of production systems supporting the Armed Forces.

He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and the Naval War College, Goa, combining operational expertise with strategic planning capabilities. His experience uniquely positions him to bridge field-level operational realities with strategic leadership, particularly in driving indigenisation of defence technology and enhancing combat preparedness.
