Former power secretary P Umashankar appointed independent director on ONGC board

NEW DELHI: Former power secretary  Shri P Umashankar has been appointed as independent director on the board of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC). Shri Umashankar, a 1976 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer from Tamil Nadu, superannuated as Secretary, Ministry of Power in June this year.

"Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas vide letter dated November 29, 2013 has appointed P Umashankar, Ex-Secretary to the Governmnt of India and S Ravi, Practising Chartered Accountant, as parttime non-official directors on the board of ONGC," the company said in a filing to the BSE stock exchange.
