FSIB recommends Shri Ramakrishnan Chander as Next MD in LIC
Shri Chander was appointed as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) in June 2025.
The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended the name for the position of Managing Director in LIC. Shri Ramakrishnan Chander has been appointed as the next managing director at the state-run insurance firm. However, the final decision or approval is subject to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
There are four managing directors in the upper board of LIC, apart from the MD and CEO. R. Doraiswamy is the current MD and CEO of the corporation. Dinesh Pant, Ratnakar Patnaik, and Sat Pal Bhanoo are the other MDs.

FSIB has interfaced with 5 candidates from Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on September 30, 2025, for the position of Managing Director (MD) in LIC. Keeping in view their performance in the interface, their overall experience, and the extant parameters, the Bureau recommends Shri R. Chander for the position of MD in LIC, the notification stated.
