NEW DELHI- Bharat Petroleum has bagged the prestigious TERI Water Sustainability Award 2022-2023 under the category of “Wastewater treatment & safe reuse”. The award instituted by The Energy and Research Institute (TERI) was presented to BPCL Kochi Refinery for “Facilitating the collection, treatment and reuse of waste-water towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal on Clean Water & Sanitation.”
Team Kochi Refinery led by Mr. Sankar M, Chief General Manager (Manufacturing), received the award from the iconic Dr. Kiran Bedi, Founder and Mentor of Navjyoti Foundation and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Mr. Mathew P Thomas, General Manager(Power & Utilities, Mr. Joseph Rajan, Chief Manager (Oil Movement & Stock) and Mr. Anand Gopinath, Senior Manager (Environment) were also present from Kochi Refinery.
The ceremony was also felicitated by Mr. Bharat Lal, Director General, National Centre for Good Governance and former Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission and Dr S K Sarkar, Distinguished Fellow (TERI).
This is the second edition of the “Water Sustainability Awards” by TERI and the theme this year is ‘Accelerating the Change - Need to achieve Sustainable Development Goal on Water’. The awards were distributed in New Delhi on 21 March 2023, on the eve of World Water Day 2023 .
