New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won an order for setting up a 2x800 MW Supercritical thermal power project (Phase-II) at Bandhaura in Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh from Mahan Energen Limited (formerly known as Essar Power MP Ltd.), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Power Ltd.
The project which has been bagged by the BHEL had been worth Rs 4,000 crore
BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages the supply of main plant equipment and associated auxiliaries along with supervision of erection & commissioning.

The project will be executed by BHEL's Power Sector Business, which is a leading player in the global power plant construction market. BHEL has a proven track record of executing thermal power projects in India and abroad.
However the company's shares rose nearly 2% on Monday after the state-run BHEL announced that it has received an order worth Rs 4,000 crore from Mahan Energen.

Background:
In addition to the Bandhaura project, BHEL is also executing a number of other thermal power projects in India. These include the 2x800 MW Krishnapatnam Ultra Mega Power Project in Andhra Pradesh, the 2x660 MW Talcher Supercritical thermal power project in Odisha, and the 2x800 MW Singrauli Supercritical thermal power project in Madhya Pradesh.
