New Delhi: Coal India Arm, Central Coalfields Limited today signs an Memorandum of Understanding of about Rs 1900 crores for operation of the Piparwar underground mine in MDO model.
With an annual capacity of 0.87MT it will be the first underground mine in CIL to be operated in MDO model. CCL operated the Piparwar coal mines are a network of underground and opencast coal mines.
The operating mines include Ashoka mine, Piparwar mines, and Ray-bachra. The company is pursuing large expansion projects for Ashoka and Piparwar mines. In response to a right of information request in 2021, the Piparwar mine is still listed by the Government of India as an active new mine project. But in 2020, the company began reclamation projects on site.
