Charge power bill every month JERC tells administration
Chandigarh: The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has directed the UT administration to shift from bi-monthly to monthly billing system, rejecting the plea of the administration.
The JERC order stated, “The petitioner is directed to ensure that monthly billing for all the categories, except agriculture pumping supply, are implemented in the territory. The implementation of monthly billing may be done in a phased manner, so that billing of certain number of consumers be shifted every month/quarter. The petitioner is directed to submit monthly compliance report for monitoring.”
The monthly billing system will be beneficial for nearly 2.40 lakh power consumers. Earlier, the electricity department had refused to implement the monthly billing system.
