CIL to extend Financial support to Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata
Kolkata: Coal India Limited in a new CSR initiative is extending financial support of Rs. 10 Crores to the Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata (I-NK) to procure a Gamma Knife. An MoU to this effect was signed at CIL Hqrs. in Kolkata.
A Gamma Knife uses very precise beams of gamma rays to treat an area of disease (lesion) or growth (tumor). It is most often used in the brain. The beams of gamma radiation send a very intense dose of radiation to a small area without the need to make an incision.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri. Pramod Agrawal, Chairman, CIL and Prof. (Dr.) R. P. Sengupta, Chairman, Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata.
