Hon'ble Coal Minister inaugurates Angul-Balram Rail Link
NEW DELHI- Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs along with Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology inaugurated a 14-km long Angul-Balram rail link in Angul, Odisha. This rail link will help Coal India subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) augment daily coal supplies to the consumers by about 40 thousand tonnes (10 railway rakes) from its Talcher Coalfields.
Shri Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary, Govt. of India, Ministry of Coal, Shri Pramod Agrawal, Chairman, CIL and Shri O.P. Singh, CMD, MCL were also present on the occasion.
Angul-Balram rail link has been constructed by Mahanadi Coal Railway Limited (MCRL), a Joint Venture (JV) company of MCL, IRCON International and Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (idco).
The Angul-Balram rail link is the first phase of the 68-km long Angul-Balram-PutugadiaJarapada-Tentuloi Inner Corridor, which will help transport coal from the mines of Talcher coalfields in Angul district of Odisha.
