Engineers India Scores Patent for Advanced Delayed Coker Heater Design
New Delhi: The Engineers India team has been granted a patent for developing a decoupled twin cell arrangement for delayed coker heaters for longer run-length and improved turn-down capability. Owing to high-temperature operating conditions and the sensitivity of the fluid handled, coker units are susceptible to intermittent shutdowns due to coking inside coker heater tubes.
The decoupled configuration developed by Team EIL allows for the simultaneous operation of one pass of the unit while the other pass undergoes decoking, leading to the continued operation of the coker unit at 50% of its capacity.
