GSL LAUNCHED SECOND 105 M OPVs FOR SRI LANKAN NAVY
PANJI. Setting the ball rolling for early delivery of Sri Lankan Navy OPVs, the Second of the two 105M OPVs being constructed at GSL, was ceremonially launched at GSL on 10th June 2016. Smt Priti Gupta, wife of Chief Guest Shri A. K. Gupta, Secretary (Defence Production), performed the honours for launching the vessel in distinguished presence of RAdm KKJ De Silva Commander Northern Naval Area, RAdm Shekhar Mital, NM, IN (Retd) CMD GSL and Vice Admiral (retd) S K Damle. Directors & Senior Officials of GSL and dignitaries from Sri Lanka Navy were also present on the occasion.
Shri A. K. Gupta in his speech congratulated the personnel of Goa Shipyard and the CMD for the impressive turnaround in last three years. He also added that “Since Nov 2015, GSL has delivered 4 CG OPVs to Indian Coast Guard, 11 Fast Interceptor Boats, 2 Fast Patrol Vessels to Mauritius, 1 DCS to Myanmar, DCTF to ENC Vizag and many other smaller projects, all ahead of delivery schedule.
GSL is today the largest exporter of the ships & simulators from Indian subcontinent with 30% of turnover coming from exports” On this Occasion RAdm Shekhar Mital, CMD GSL said “We are extremely thankful to Secy (DP) for taking personal interest in resolving our issues and guiding us all along.
