Historic Settlement For Contract Workmen of NLCIL
Neyveli: A historic settlement under Section 12(3) of Industrial dispute Act, 1947 for wage and other benefits to the Contract Workmen was signed between the Contractor Employers and representatives of recognised Trade Unions (CITU & LPF) and other Trade Unions representing Contract Workmen on 07.08.2020, in the presence of Shri V. Muthu Manickam, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Labour & Employment Ministry, Government of India. This settlement was based on the MOU entered by the parties on 26.02.2020.
This settlement offers increase in monthly wages ranging from Rs 3600/- to Rs.4000/- and in addition offers various other allowances like Housing Assistance, Washing Allowances, Canteen Allowances etc. besides two sets of uniform. The settlement will be in force upto 31.12.2026. Approximately, 14000 contract workmen engaged in various units of NLCIL in Neyveli will be benefited out of this settlement that offers increase in wages from 01.01.2020.
The highlight of the settlement was that it had been arrived through a comprehensive bipartite negotiation by a joint Bipartite Committee comprising of Trade Unions representing contract workmen under the guidance of recognised unions of NLCIL (CITU & LPF) and the Contractor Employers without resorting to any agitation or strike.
The signing of the settlement took place on 07.08.2020 at Learning & Development Centre, Block-20, NLCIL, Neyveli in the presence of Shri V. Muthu Manickam, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Shri Sivakumar, Asst. Labour Commissioner (Central), Shri Pari Vallal, Labour Enforcement Officer, Puducherry and the authorized officials of NLCIL, the Principal Employer, Shri N. Sadish Babu, Executive Director (HR), Shri.C.Thiagaraju, Chief General Manager (HR)/IR, Shri.Y. Joe Stephen Dominic, Chief General Manager(HR), Shri.Mukesh Agrawal, Chief General Manager (Finance), Shri.A.Gothandam, Chief General Manager(MS/C.O) and Shri.S. Kabilan, General Manager / Tech.(Mines).
