WCL organised program under 'World Workplace Safety and Health Day'

New Delhi: A program was organized under World Workplace Safety & Health Day (WORLD DAY FOR SAFETY & HEALTH AT WORK) at Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) Headquarters today on 28.04.2024. At the beginning of the program, Director Technical (Operations and Planning/Projects) Shri AK Singh paid floral tributes at the Martyr Memorial located at WECOLI Headquarters in the presence of Director (Finance) Shri Bikram Ghosh. After that he hoisted the security flag.

In his address on this occasion, Director Technical (Operations and Planning/Projects) Shri AK Singh called upon the company employees to give top priority to safety. He also stressed on being conscious of safety and health at the workplace. He said to work safely at the workplace and take special care of your health. This day gives us the message to be conscious of safety and health at the workplace. By following this we can achieve our goal of zero accidents.

Before his address, he administered the oath of integrity to the employees regarding safety and health. This year's theme of the International Labor Organization (ILO) is - “Impacts of Climate Change on Occupational Safety & Health”

Chief Medical Officer Mrs. Sujatha Sarmukaddam and CIL Safety Board member Mr. C.J. Joseph spoke on the subject of safety and health in the program.

General Manager/Head of Department, senior officers and employees were present on this occasion. The vote of thanks for the program was given by General Manager (Security and Protection) Mr. DB Rewatkar and Operations Manager (Public Relations) Mr. Milind Chahande. The Security and Protection Department had an active contribution in making the program successful.

It may be noted that World Workplace Safety and Health Day is celebrated on the initiative of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Geneva, a unit of the United Nations General Assembly. The International Labor Union makes rules to protect the interests of laborers and workers on an international basis. It is a specialized organization of the United Nations. In 1969 it was awarded the Nobel Prize for World Peace. International Labor Organization has been formed for the rights of workers at the international level.
