Massive Fire at ONGC Hazira Plant Surat Blast Heard From Miles
Surat: Fire caught at The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) hazira plant last night in Surat. Huge balast and fire cloud was excprienced from many kilometers away. There are 12 fire engines on the spot. Surat Collector Dr. Dhawal Patel said that at around 3 am, there were 3 consecutive blasts at the ONGC Hazira plant, which led to the fire. There are many fire engines on the spot. Till now no casualties have been reported. The process of depressurizing the pressure gas system by ONGC officials is on.
Witnesses say that as soon as the explosion in the plant, the windows of their houses started shaking. No casualty was reported until the news was written. Officers are constantly engaged in controlling the fire. The gas is transported via pipeline from offshore in Mumbai to ONGC's Surat plant, where the refining process takes place. Then, through the HVJ pipeline (Hazira Vijaypur, Jagdishpur) it is transported for domestic use in various industries as well as in six states of the country.
