NCL's 46th Tripartite Safety Committee meeting

New Delhi: The 46th Tripartite Safety Committee meeting was chaired by Northern Coalfields Limited, CMD Shri Bhola Singh on Tuesday at the headquarters of NCL. During this, the Deputy Director, Directors, Board members, General Managers of all areas, and the Head of Departments of the Headquarters participated.

In his address as the chief guest, Deputy Director General, Directorate General of Mine Safety, Ghaziabad, Shri SD Chiddarwar congratulated NCL for its excellent performance in the recent Star Rating Awards of the Ministry of Coal. He appreciated the NCL management for ensuring compliance of majority of the instructions given by DGMS. Also encouraged Team NCL to achieve zero damage efficiency. Thereafter, important suggestions were also given regarding safety and occupational health. At the end of his address, he congratulated NCL for creating new dimensions of success by producing safely.

Addressing the Tripartite Security Committee as Chairman, CMD NCL described security as a continuous process. He said that NCL is the only company of Coal India which is registering continuous growth year after year in all three parameters – production, dispatch and surcharge removal. In view of the large scale productivity and dispatch, he called upon Team NCL to pay special emphasis on safety.

Also inspired everyone to follow the ideas suggested by the Directorate General of Mine Safety in letter and spirit. He also said that NCL does modern and ideal mining and supplies coal with the spirit of “electricity for all”. In his address, he described the recent recruitment of statutory manpower and the ongoing recruitment of operators as a milestone for departmental productivity. He also mentioned the significant improvement in the environmental performance index of Singrauli region due to the efforts of NCL. Also urged Team NCL to work on the policy of “zero tolerance” on all aspects of security.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Directors of NCL in the 46th Tripartite Safety Committee meeting, Shri Jitendra Malik, Director (Technical/Operations), NCL reiterated NCL's commitment towards meeting the safety standards along with productivity. Besides, to make the workforce efficient, emphasis was laid on continuous training while paying attention to occupational health and safety.

During this, DGMS officials and labor union representatives also expressed their views and gave suggestions regarding continuous improvement in security. On this occasion, a safety report was also presented in which detailed details of various works being done for safety during operations in NCL mines along with the implementation report of last year's meeting were kept.

A safety pledge was also taken in the meeting to achieve zero harm efficiency. Thereafter, the guests flagged off the safety torch rally which will spread the message of safe work culture in all the projects of NCL. Before the meeting, floral tributes were paid to the workers who were martyred while ensuring the energy security of the nation. The meeting was coordinated and the guests were welcomed by General Manager (Safety and Security) Shri LP Godse and vote of thanks was given by General Manager (CMC) Shri Rajeev Singh.

Closing ceremony and prize distribution of the Annual Mine Safety Week 2023 will be held on Wednesday.

The closing ceremony of the Annual Mine Safety Week 2023 will be organized in Dudhichua area of NCL on Wednesday in which the best mines of Singrauli region will be rewarded for various activities and inspections under the Safety Week during the month of December. Director General, Directorate General of Mine Safety, Dhanbad Shri Prabhat Kumar will participate in the program as the chief guest. It is noteworthy that apart from NCL, companies like Sasan Power Limited, Jaypee Power Ventures Limited, APMDC and THDC are participating in the Safety Week organized under the aegis of Directorate General of Mine Safety, Varanasi Region and its closing ceremony and prize distribution.
