NCL Gets New Video Conferencing System
Singrauli: Taking a giant leap towards the adoption of technology for seamless communication and workflow, Northern Coalfields Limited institutionalized a nifty new system for video conferencing. The Director (Finance) NCL, Shri P.S.R.K Sastry launched the initiative on at NCL Headquarters recently.
On this occasion, CMD NCL Shri P.K.Sinha, the Director (Technical/Operations) NCL Shri Gunadhar Pandey, the Director (Technical/Project and Planning) NCL Shri P.M. Prasad were also present. The Electronics and Telecommunications Department of the company is nodal department for the initiative and the General Manager (E&T) Shri S.K. Meshram shared useful insights about the new initiative.
The new system will help in cost-cutting and time-saving by facilitating face-to-face communication between two or more than two locations. The same is achieved through its ‘point to point’ and ‘multi-point’ features respectively. The entire system comprises of hardware, codec and connectivity. The input and output signal from hardware (display unit, camera, microphone and remote control) is codified by the codec. Codec, which is a portmanteau for Coder-Decoder, compresses the signal for data transmission at source point and expands the signal for data receipt at the destination point.
