An Agreement on Extension signed between US and Armenia

United States: On the 2nd of May 2024, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kvien, on behalf of the Government of the United States of America, and Republic of Armenia Minister of Defense Papikyan, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, came together to sign an extension of the Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Republic of Armenia concerning cooperation in the area of counterproliferation of weapons of mass destruction (Hereinafter, the Umbrella Agreement).

This agreement marks another significant step in the enduring partnership between the two nations in the crucial realm of counterproliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

This extension, spanning an additional seven years through November 2030, underpins the cooperation between the two nations and the commitments under the Umbrella Agreement since its inception in 2002. Under its auspices, the United States Government through the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has provided invaluable support to the Republic of Armenia, offering expertise, materials, and technical assistance, worth over 130 mln. USD, making DTRA as one of the principal donors to the Republic of Armenia
