GAIL Launches G-Tex PTA Brand to Strengthen India’s Polyester Industry
Mumbai, FEB 21, 2026: GAIL (India) Limited took a major stride in its petrochemical expansion with the launch of G-Tex, its new brand for Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), at an exclusive stakeholder gathering in Mumbai. The launch was presided over by Shri Sanjay Kumar, Director (Marketing), GAIL, in the presence of key players across the polyester value chain.
PTA, the core raw material for polyester, plays a pivotal role in the production of fibers, yarns, fabrics, and PET applications. With the introduction of G-Tex, GAIL aims to provide a stable, high-quality domestic PTA supply, reducing import dependence and strengthening India’s polyester industry.
Production Details
G-Tex will be manufactured by GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (GMPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL, at its 1.25 MMTPA world-class PTA facility in Mangalore SEZ. Commercial production is scheduled to commence from April 2026, ensuring timely supply to meet growing domestic demand.
