NCL to Host International Conference on Opencast Mining Technology and Sustainability
Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Coal India company, is all set to host technocrats from across the globe to deliberate on the host of issues surrounding the country's coal sector. On the occasion of World Energy Conservation Day, NCL is organizing the 1st International Conference on Opencast Mining Technology and Sustainability (ICOMS-2018) during 14th-15th December 2018 at Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, India in association with Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi and AKS University, Satna.
With the growing thrust on clean energy, it has become more important for the coal industry to reorient itself and keep fulfilling the nation’s energy requirement by adopting sustainable ways of operations.
Shri P.K. Sinha said that this would be the first-of-its-kind conference on opencast mining, technology and sustainability in India. We are expecting a huge number of technocrats across the globe participating and deliberating on the challenges for high growth rate in production in a sustainable manner.
Presently, coal mining activities of NCL are confined in the Moher sub-basin, where all operations are being carried out through 10 highly mechanised opencast mines. NCL has Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) fleet of more than 1000 HEMM's. NCL has more than 50 per cent of the total Dragline fleet of Coal India.
