Power Ministry allotted 17 hydroelectric projects to NEEPCO

New Delhi: The Ministry of Power, India allotted 17 hydroelectric projects with an installed capacity of 4988 MWs, and 1702 MWs in JV are allotted to NEEPCO in Arunachal Pradesh.
NEEPCO has established itself as the premier power generating company of the North East with an installed capacity of 2057 MW which is about 40% of the energy requirement of the region and operates the largest Hydro Power Plant in N.E. Region.

North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) is under the ownership of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, Ministry of Power, which functions to plan, investigate, design, construct, generate, operate and maintain power stations in the North Eastern Region of India.
NEEPCO is embarking on a plan to generate power from non-conventional sources of energy, especially by tapping solar power and wind in the coming years.
