NFL nangal organises 3rd half marathon
New Delhi: The enthusiasm was full at 5.30 AM even in winters of Nangal, with large number of people warming up on the moves of Zumba trainers with Punjabi music playing full on. Hundreds of athletes were ready to run for Half Marathon, eagerly waiting for the Chief Guest to arrive at the venue.
As soon as Chief Guest, Shri Manoj Mishra, C&MD and Mrs. Prarthana Mishra flagged off the Marathon at 6.00 AM, the first lot of 21 km runners rushed outside the stadium to clock the best time to complete the run. Senior officials of NFL including Sh D S Ahuja, D (T), Sh Y P Bhola, D(F), Sh R K Gogia, ED(HR) and Sh Rakesh Markan, Head of Nangal Unit accompanied C&MD to the venue. C&MD and Directors were already in Nangal for QRM of the unit.
A large number of NFL employees, as far as from Bhopal, made it to the marathon as the company extended all facilities to its employees to participate in the event.Around 650 persons with age group ranging from 10 to 79+ years belonging to Punjab, Haryana, H.P., Chandigarh, Delhi participated with zest & enthusiasm in 5Km, 10 Km and 21 Km formats of Half Marathon.
Shri Kushal Pal Singh from Noida was declared winner in Men’s 21 Km Category and Ms Shivani Thakur from Mohali in Women’s 21 Km category in 18-40 group. In 65+ years category, local marathoner Sh Malkiat Grewal won the 21 Km race continuously for second year. Sh Grewal was also a brand ambassador of the event.
The surrounding Shivalik foothills, Satluj river in vicinity, cleanest air, and a running track full of adventures were the biggest attraction of the Marathon.
