NHPC, CMD met Hon`ble CM of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma
The Hon'ble Minister gave directions for taking care of safety and safeguarding of the interests of the local people of Assam.
New Delhi: Shri A.K. Singh, CMD, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited met Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam at New Delhi on September 20, 2021. During the meeting, discussions were held on issues related to the early commissioning of NHPC's 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Project.
The Hon'ble Minister gave directions for taking care of safety and safeguarding of the interests of the local people of Assam.
Subansiri Lower HE Project is the biggest hydroelectric project undertaken in India so far and is a run of river scheme on the river Subansiri. The Project is located near North Lakhimpur on the border of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The nearest railhead is Nagaon and the nearest airport is Lilabari / Dibrugarh. The estimated annual energy generation from the Project is 7421 MU in a 90% dependable year.
NHPC is currently engaged in the construction of 9 projects aggregating to a total installed capacity of 5999 MW which includes 2 hydro electric projects viz., 2000 MW Subansiri Lower HEP and 800 MW Parbati-II HEP and 1 solar project of 40 MW being executed on ownership basis
