NHPC contract trash cleaning team of 94.2 MW Tanakpur Power Station

New Delhi: In an outstanding heroic act of bravery, the staff on contract for trash cleaning of NHPC’s 94.2 MW Tanakpur Power Station located in District Champawat (Uttarakhand) saved a lady from drowning on 30th August 2020. The NHPC management led by Shri A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC have lauded the brave action of the team for saving a precious human life.

The contract trash cleaning team at the forebay had spotted a lady floating down the channel stream in the morning. The lady was seen flowing near the trash rack where she suddenly disappeared underneath the water and got stuck in the rack. Without any hesitation, the team acted immediately and submerged their hands in the water and located and pulled her out safely from the flowing stream. The lady was fortunately alive and was later identified as Smt. Govindi Devi, a 55 year old resident of nearby Fagpur village. Smt. Govindi Devi was later taken to CISF, who after noting her details handed her to over to her family members. This was an extraordinary effort by trash cleaning team on duty at forebay Tanakpur Power Station.
