EGCON 2021: NHPC inaugurated International Conference on 'Recent Advances in Geotechnics'
The International Conference which is being jointly organized by NHPC and ISEG will be held on a virtual platform from 9th to 11th December 2021.
NEW DELHI: Shri A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC and President, Indian Society of Engineering Geology (ISEG) inaugurated EGCON 2021, the online International Conference themed “Recent Advances in Geotechnics” on 9th December 2021 at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad. The International Conference which is being jointly organized by NHPC and ISEG will be held on a virtual platform from 9th to 11th December 2021.
In his presidential address, CMD, NHPC, and President, ISEG emphasized the crucial role of emerging technologies in the field of geotechnical investigation in minimizing the geological uncertainties during the execution of hydropower and other infrastructural projects. CMD, NHPC also released a special publication on ‘Proceedings of EGCON 2021’ during the inaugural session of EGCON 2021. Some keynote speakers who shared their views during the inaugural session included Dr. Martin Wieland, Chairman, ICOLD Committee, Switzerland and Dr. B. Hoss, Technical Director, Amberg, Australia.
The inaugural function was attended by more than 50 senior officers from NHPC, CEA, CWC, GSI, Ministry of Steel and Mines, CSMRS, NCCBM, physically and more than 100 delegates joined the event through the virtual platform. EGCON 2021 shall provide an international platform to industry experts and leaders from both public and private sector to deliberate upon recent developments in the field of Engineering Geology, Engineering Geophysics, Earthquake Engineering, Remote Sensing and other related areas. The conference has already witnessed registration of more 600 participants.
