NMDC celebrates the 131st Birth Anniversary of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar

Hyderabad: NMDC paid its tribute to the Father of Indian Constitution and celebrated the 131st birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar today at NMDC Head Office in Hyderabad. 

Chief Guests Shri Somnath Nandi, Director (Technical); Shri Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Director (Production) and Guest of Honour Shri K. Praveen Kumar, Executive Director (Personnel and Law) led the employees in offering their respect to one of the Founding Fathers of the Republic of India. 

The event was organized by the mining major in association with NMDC HO SC/ST Federation. Shri B. Hanumantha Rao (President) and Shri B. Pavan Kumar (General Secretary) from the NMDC SC/ST Employees Welfare Association along with Executive Members and employees and their family members were present on the occasion. 

The function commenced with dignitaries putting a garland on the portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, followed by a prayer sung in his memory. 

Shri Somnath Nandi on this occasion said that Baba Saheb is a symbol of equality and justice, his inspiring life and thoughts reinforce our conviction that the nation is to be governed with absolute commitment, positive thinking, judicious planning, optimum effort, harmonizing initiatives and relentless determination. He concluded with Dr. Ambedkar’s quote “Life should be great rather than long”.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dilip Kumar Mohanty said life of Baba Saheb Ambedkar reminds us to reinforce societal values, inculcate his vision and ideals to uplift the lives, eradicate inequality, provide equal opportunities to all which is possible through education only.

As the country celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, we must also celebrate the reforms that have come by and the ones that we are striving for. With good governance practices and a sense of duty, we, at NMDC, take inspiration from and emulate the discipline Dr. Ambedkar built in our democracy. 

On this occasion, NMDC distributed school bags and water bottles to children. NMDC SC/ST Association distributed fruits, food packets to orphanage children at Radha Kishan Balika Bhavan, Nanal Nagar, Hyderabad.

Suiting to the occasion cultural and musical programme was organized by school children with orchestra performed by Citizen Orchestra, Hyderabad.
