NRDC Licensed for ROBO COASTAL OBSERVER Technology
Hyderabad: National Research Development Corporation, has signed Technology Licensing Agreement with M/s. CT Control Technology (India) Pvt. Ltd. Bengaluru for manufacturing and commercializing a 'Robo Coastal Observer (RCO)'. The technical Know-how has been developed by National Institute of Ocean Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Chennai.
Dr. H. Purushotham, Chairman and Managing Director, NRDC, Dr. M. A. Atmanand, Director, NIOT and Mr. R. Sumanth. Director Projects & Systems, M/s. CT Technology (I) Pvt. Ltd. have singed and exchanged the agreements on 27.04.2018 during Earth System Science Organization (ESSO) meeting held at Hyderabad. Dr. M. Rajeevan-Secretary-Ministry of Earth Sciences, Directors and other senior executives of the ESSO organization institutes were also present in the event.
The RCO is used in the collection of data in coastal and deep waters. The RCO can also be programmed for autonomous data collection with the help of an on-board GPS module. The low-cost buoyant apparatus developed by NIOT can be deployed in water bodies for saving lives in flooded rivers, lakes, ponds and coastal areas to acquire the data as it is equipped with sensors and cameras for ocean data collection and also can be used in fishery applications.
