Powergrid won three major projects on build, own, operate basis

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation (PGCIL) of India, a state-owned Maharatna power company has won three major power transmission projects in Rajasthan through competitive bidding. These power projects are built to evacuate 8.1 GW of power from solar energy zones in the state.
In December 2020 REC had proposed bids to established the transmitted systems and deplete the power from solar energy zones in the state.
PGCIL, India’s largest electric power transmission utility, undertakes transmission of electricity through the Inter-State Transmission System.
Last year, eight lines totaling Rs 20,000 crore were awarded to private companies through the TBCB route. PGCIL was nominated for two major lines totaling Rs 30,000 crore.
