Power Secretary inaugurates Women Convenience lounge at Barakhambha Metro Station
New Delhi: Power Secretary Shri Sanjiv Nandan Sahai today inaugurated a fully functional Women’s Convenience Lounge for women travelers at Barakhamba Road Metro Station. Women’s Convenience Lounge is set up by Power Finance Corporation, a Schedule - A Navratna CPSE and India’s leading NBFC for the Power Sector. The 100 square feet lounge aims to address multiple challenges faced by women, particularly mothers of newly born, while commuting through public transport. The lounge can be accessed from gate number 01 of Barakhamba Road Metro Station.
Among its key highlights, the lounge has a breast-feeding facility for mothers who want to feed their babies during the journey. The lounge is also equipped with diaper changing kiosk and will also offer free sanitary pads. With a capacity to sit at least six women, the lounge will have a woman helper at all times to assist commuters.
Inaugurating the lounge at Barakhamba Metro Station, Secretary (Power) appreciated the efforts of Power Finance Corporation for this key initiative to support women commuters.The inauguration took place in the presence of Shri Rajiv Sharma, CMD (PFC), Shri Mangu Singh, MD, DMRC and other senior officials from PFC and DMRC.
