Ramping up regional connectivity is new focus area: Scindia at US-India Strategic Partnership Forum
New Delhi: Hon'ble Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia in a discussion at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum stated that with the recovery in domestic and international air traffic to pre-Covid levels, ramping up regional connectivity is the new focus area for the Government.
Plans are afoot in the direction to achieve the same. He also mentioned that Indian carriers have launched flights on more than 425 regional routes, connecting 68 airports under UDAN, which is the highest in the history of civil aviation in India.
He added that a small aircraft scheme has also been rolled out to provide air connectivity to remote regions of the country. Assuring that new Flying Training Organisations will be established shortly to meet the growing demand for pilots, he talked about plans of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the Government of India for decarbonisation of airport assets.
