A Plant Level Mock Drill was conducted to test the On-Site Emergency Preparedness following an imaginary Gas Leak, at the Gas Mixing Station of the Energy Management Department at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
RINL conducts Plant level mock drill to test on-site emergency preparedness
NEW DELHI- A Plant Level Mock Drill was conducted to test the On-Site Emergency Preparedness following an imaginary Gas Leak, at the Gas Mixing Station of the Energy Management Department at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant today, which the emergency services like Medical services, Gas Safety, Safety department, Environment Management Dept, CISF (Security), HR dept, etc have participated.
The Gas Safety Team rushed to the spot immediately along with gas monitors, and artificial respirators and carried out an analysis of the concentration of the explosive mixture, and administered oxygen to the victims till the arrival of the rescue team. CISF Security personnel carried out the rescue operation and rescued the affected persons from the spot using Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other emergency response devices.
Sri J. Shiva Shankar Reddy - Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, Visakhapatnam, Govt of AP, witnessed the Mock Drill and lauded the efforts of the RINL/Visakhapatnam steel plant team in conducting the Mock Drill and gave valuable suggestions for further improvement.
The Plant Level Mock Drill was conducted under the guidance of Sri MSV Krishnaiah, Chief General Manager (Safety & Environment), Visakhapatnam steel plant
Senior officials of Visakhapatnam steel plant Sri K Sudhakar, GM (EMD) I/c and Shri N K Rout, General Manager (Safety) I/c and Sri Uttam Brahma, GM (Mechanical) who was the chief observer have attended and evaluated the efficacy of the Drill.
