New Delhi: RVNL celebrates its first baby step of 1 km tunnel excavation in the Rishikesh-Karanprayag railway project. RVNL remains committed to achieving high progress rates in one of the most challenging of Himalayan geology to complete entire the tunnel excavation of 125 km length of this project by 2024.

The Entire Rishikesh-Karanprayag railway project alignment from Rishikesh to Karanprayag (125.20 Kms) lies between Longitude 78.015’E to 79.015’E and Latitude 30.005’N to 30.020’N in Garhwal Himalayan range, Uttarakhand. There will be 35 bridges in the route length in this project.

The project consists of three stages consisting of:-

Stage-I:- Creation of digital elevation model of the terrain of the project area and design & study of alignment options

Stage-II:- Geological survey (1:25000 medium scale) along the alignment approved in stage-I and consequent refinement of the alignment

Stage-III:- Detailed geological survey (1:5000 large scale), geo-physical survey along alignment refined in Stage-II, further refinement wherever necessary, and staking of the final alignment in the field.
