Shri Abhay Kumar Singh CMD of NHPC Meet with Honorable Chief Minister of Assam
It has been informed that riverbank protection is to be carried out up to 30 km downstream of Dam of which up to 23 km downstream of the Dam has been completed and for the remaining portion, the tendering process is in progress.

New Delhi: Shri Abhay Kumar Singh, CMD, NHPC along with Shri Arvind Bhat, Executive Director, and Shri Vipin Gupta, General Manager (I/c), Subansiri Lower Project had a meeting with Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam at Guwahati on October 21, 2020. the brief of the project was given by Shri Singh to the Hon’ble Chief Minister which showcased the ongoing construction activities at Subansiri Lower Project.
Shri Abhay Kumar Singh also apprised the Hon’ble Chief Minister about the riverbank protection measures and livelihood intervention activities in downstream areas of the project being undertaken by Subansiri Lower Project as per the decision taken by Core Group of Assam. It has been informed that riverbank protection is to be carried out up to 30 km downstream of Dam of which up to 23 km downstream of the Dam has been completed and for the remaining portion, the tendering process is in progress.
During the meeting, CMD, NHPC expressed his gratitude towards Govt. of Assam for cooperation, guidance, and support being provided to NHPC in the construction of the Project as well as to implement livelihood intervention programs and river protection measures in downstream areas. Keeping in view the ongoing agitations against Subansiri Lower Project by some students/ youth organizations at Gogamukh (Dhemaji), Shri Singh requested the Hon’ble Chief Minister to instruct appropriate authority to maintain law and order situation in the Project vicinity so that the construction activities go hindrance-free and the Project is completed as scheduled.
Honorable Chief Minister, Assam assured all help and assistance to NHPC and asked NHPC to complete the project on time so that the people of Assam are benefitted from it.
