Shri R. Vikraman Director NLCIL inaugurated the festival and launched a Mobile App
Neyveli: “JASCOFEST”, a college festival, showcasing the talents and skills of students of the college in the areas of science, arts and culture, has been renewed this year, after a gap of few years and held today, 01.11.2019. Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR, NLCIL & Patron, Jawahar Education Soceity, Neyveli” inaugurated the festival and launched a Mobile App, “Navigate Neyveli”. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the efforts taken by Shri V. Suresh, Asst. Professor and team consisting of 300 students of the college covering 25,000 locations in creating this Mobile Application, which would be of use to the people of Neyveli as well as general public.
The App helps in finding locations of any residential quarters, offices of utility services, commercial establishments situated in Neyveli Township with a precision of less than 50 metres which is better than Internationally developed Applications.
He also expressed his happiness that the “JASCOFEST-2019” has been renewed after a gap of few years. He said that such festivals would help students to exhibit their inherent talents.
Colleges should not only inculcate educational values among students but also the talents in extra-curricular activities, which would make the education wholesome and inclusive.Shri R. Vikraman handed over a cash award of Rs.5000/- to Prof. V. Suresh for developing the Mobile Application as the Team Leader.
Earlier, the Principal of Jawahar Science College, Dr. V.T. Chandrasekaran welcomed the gathering. Shri S. Gnanasambandam, Secretary/JES and Shri M. Mohamed Abdul Kader, Secretary/JSC offered felicitations. Shri V. Mohan, HOD/Computer Science presented a preamble regarding the Mobile Application.
