SJVN Partners with IIT Patna to develop Advanced Geological Model for its tunneling projects
The primary focus of the MoU is to develop cutting-edge methodologies to integrate diverse geotechnical data sources.
SHIMLA: SJVN has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) in the August presence of Sh. AK Singh, Director (Finance) SJVN and Sh. TN Singh, Director IIT Patna.
Smt. Geeta Kapur, Chairman & Managing Director, of SJVN, said that this collaboration aims to pioneer advanced geological models, significantly reducing time and cost overruns in SJVN's tunneling projects. The primary focus of the MoU is to develop cutting-edge methodologies to integrate diverse geotechnical data sources.

This collaboration also aims to evaluate the intricate relationship between overburden and deformation, thereby enhancing the evaluation and design of support systems crucial for tunneling projects. By harnessing integrated geotechnical data and 3D geological models, SJVN and IIT Patna aim to identify and analyze potential risks and hazards.

These algorithms, leveraging integrated geotechnical data, will forecast potential risks and provide early warning systems specifically tailored for tunneling projects. Such proactive measures are expected to substantially mitigate time and cost overruns during project execution.
On the occasion of MoU signing, Sh. RK Gupta, CGM(Civil), Sh. Jitender Yadav, GM (Finance), Sh. Hemant Kumar Shaklya, GM (Civil), Sh. Akshay Acharya, GM (Geology) from SJVN and Professor AK Verma from IIT Patna were also present. SJVN and IIT Patna are committed to driving sustainable development and technological excellence through this strategic partnership.
