Odisha: Talcher Fertilizers Ltd (TFL), a Joint Venture of GAIL has successfully concluded the financial closure of its mega coal gasification-based urea project located at Talcher in Angul, Odisha. It will enhance the energy security of the country through environment-friendly usage of coal.
The project will act as a harbinger in attracting investments in India for coal gasification projects and will invigorate Odisha & eastern India's economy. It will boost alternative cleaner use of indigenous coal & give a fillip to gasifying the stated aim of 100 MT of coal by 2030.
Talcher plant shall also reduce dependence on imported LNG for production of urea, thus making India Aatmanirbhar. It shall emit negligible GHG gases as compared to directly coal-fired processes, thereby supporting commitments made by India under the Paris Agreement.
