Tripartite safety meeting in Western Coalfields Limited
Nagpur: In a move to achieve advance safety standards in coal mines, Tripartite safety meeting held in Western Coalfields Limited today in Nagpur. The meeting was presided over by C. J. Joseph, Member Coal India Limited Safety Board.
Safety and conservation department of WCL presented the statistics and steps taken to achieve zero accident before the committee members during the meeting. Discussion was held on safety issues like man riding, tele -monitoring, gas, chromatograph, slope stability radar, use of rasin capsules, mechanized roof drilling during the meeting.
TThe circulars issued by DGMS were also discussed and suggestion from Tripartite members were also noted. Chief Guest of the meeting S. Krishnamurthy, Dy. DGMS, Western Zone said that the workers are required to be given extensive training on technical issues.
He said that as far as safety standards are concerned the contractual workers also need to follow the same standards as followed by departmental workers. He appreciated efforts of WCL to reduce accident rate over previous years.
