UERC honoured for progressive tariff reforms
DEHRADUN: The Independent Power Producer Association of India (IPPAI) has honoured the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) for being the Most Progressive SERC-Tariff Reforms.
The UERC was chosen from among 30 State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERC) of the country.Former Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid gave away the award to UERC member KP Singh during the 17thregulators and policymakers retreat. The IPPAI gave the award to the UERC for being the most progressive SERC in the tariff reforms category.
The parameters of selection for the award were average tariff for domestic, small industrial, commercial, agriculture and large industrial units as per cent of creation of any regulatory assets in the past three years and the time period specified for liquidation of regulatory asset.
The programme was supported by the Union Minister of Coal, Power and of New and Renewable Energy.
The objective of the IPPAI power awards is to recognise the contribution of individuals, organisations, states, State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs) and Power Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) to the development of the power sector in India.
UERC chairman Subhash Kumar recognised the role of all officers and staff of the commission in getting the award.
