Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Inaugurated WAPCOS Constructed ESRs in Nagpur
NEW DELHI- Hon'ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Sh. Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated two Elevated Service Reservoirs (ESRs) in Nagpur on March 25, 2023. The ESRs were constructed by WAPCOS, which is working as the Project Executing Agency (PEA) for the "Execution of Distribution Infrastructure including Unauthorized Layouts/ Localities/ Slums in Nagpur City under AMRUT" project.
Under this project, 16 ESRs are to be constructed, around 15 km of Feeder Mains, and 378 km of Distribution pipelines are to be laid in Nagpur city. The project is being implemented under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, which aims to provide basic amenities such as water supply, sewerage, and urban transport to improve the quality of life for citizens in urban areas.
The two ESRs inaugurated by Sh. Nitin Gadkari are expected to provide a significant boost to the water supply infrastructure in Nagpur city. These ESRs have a capacity of 5 million liters each and will help to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted water supply to the city's residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Nitin Gadkari highlighted the importance of water supply infrastructure for the development of cities and the welfare of citizens. He appreciated the efforts of WAPCOS and other stakeholders in implementing this critical project, which will benefit a large number of people in Nagpur.
The "Execution of Distribution Infrastructure including Unauthorized Layouts/ Localities/ Slums in Nagpur City under AMRUT" project is a significant step towards ensuring equitable and adequate access to basic amenities for all citizens in Nagpur. The completion of this project will help to address the water supply needs of the city's rapidly growing population and contribute to the overall development of the region.
