VNIT Professor Develops Technology to make sand out of fly ash
NAGPUR: An assistant professor at the civil engineering department at the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) has developed a process to convert fly ash into geopolymer based sand that can be used in all types of construction. It isb apparently the only process of its kind.
VNIT director Narendra Chaudhari told TOI that the college recently signed an MoU with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) western region for setting up a 10 tonne per hour fly ash-sand making plant at NTPC Sipat in Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh. This will be the first commercial scale plant to be set up using technology developed at the college.
