WCL and NTPC signs Agreement for coal supply

According to this agreement, coal will be supplied to the NTPC Limited plant from the Gauri Central open mine in the Ballarpur area of WCL.

WCL and NTPC signs Agreement for coal supply

New Delhi: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and NTPC Limited signed an agreement on a cost-plus basis for coal supply on 06.06.2024. According to this agreement, coal will be supplied to the NTPC Limited plant from the Gauri Central open mine in the Ballarpur area of WCL.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at WCL Head Office in the presence of Shri J P Dwivedi, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Shri A K Singh, Director Technical (Operations & Planning/Projects), Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance) and Pradipta Kumar Mishra, Executive Director (FM) of NTPC. The agreement was signed by Shri Rakesh Prasad, General Manager (Planning/Projects) from the WCL side and Shri Prem Prakash, Regional Executive Director (WR-1 & SR), Shri Chilakapati Sivakumar, Regional Executive Director (WR-2) from NTPC side.

On this occasion, WCL General Manager (Sales & Marketing) Mr. George Mathew and officials of WCL and NTPC were prominently present.

This agreement between WCL and NTPC will be valid for 17 years. Under this agreement, WCL will supply 6.1777 million tonnes of coal per year to NTPC's plant on cost-plus basis from its Gauri Central open mine in the Ballarpur area.

It is worth mentioning that the Gauri Central open mine of WCL's Ballarpur area is the second largest mine of WCL. This mine has a capacity of 7 million tonnes per year. From this, coal will be supplied to NTPC's plants in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.
