MoS Coal & Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey Reviews WCL Performance; Urges Focus on Self-Reliance
MoS Coal & Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey visited WCL Nagpur, inaugurated an E-Vehicle Charging Station, the ICCC e-surveillance centre, Amrit Pharmacy, and 'SHASTrA'—India's first PSU weapons training academy.

Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey visited the Nagpur-based WCL Headquarters on 27 November 2025. He inaugurated the E-Vehicle Fast Electric Charging Station established at the headquarters. Thereafter, he inspected the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) for e-surveillance. Following the inspection, the Hon’ble Minister chaired a review meeting of WCL.
The session commenced with the inauguration of WCL’s new website and the Amrit Pharmacy at Chandrapur Area. Subsequently, during the review meeting, he assessed WCL’s performance in terms of production, productivity, and coal dispatch. Chairman-cum-Managing Director Shri J. P. Dwivedi presented a detailed overview of coal mining operations in WCL. He briefed the Hon’ble Minister on the coal production and dispatch achieved so far in the current financial year, as well as on new initiatives, welfare measures, CSR activities, etc., assuring him that WCL will meet its annual coal production target.
In his address, Hon’ble Minister Shri Satish Chandra Dubey stated that achieving WCL’s annual targets is essential in view of the increasing nation’s coal demands. He emphasized that strengthening ongoing mining activities and initiating new projects is necessary to make the country self-reliant in the coal sector. He assured full support from the Ministry of Coal in this direction. He further underlined the significant contribution of Western Coalfields Limited in fulfilling the country’s coal requirements.
The review meeting witnessed the presence of the Hon’ble Minister’s OSD Shri Akhilesh Kumar Pandey, Private Secretary Shri Rituraj Mishra, Deputy Secretary Shri Ram Kumar, Under Secretary Shri Vasant Burde, Private Secretary Shri Hradesh Dwivedi; and from WCL, Director (Finance) Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director Technical (Operations and Projects/Planning) Shri Anandji Prasad, Director (Human Resources) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, along with Area General Managers, Headquarters General Managers, Heads of Departments and other senior officials.
After the review meeting, the Hon’ble Minister inaugurated “SHASTrA,” the first-ever weapons training centre established in a Public Sector Undertaking, at the Safety Training Centre, Indora. At SHASTrA – Small Hybrid Arms Simulator Training Academy – the Hon’ble Minister reviewed the various weapons available and observed the weapon-handling procedures. On this occasion, he addressed WCL’s security personnel and motivated them to remain alert, skilled, and honest in the discharge of their duties.
