The Ministry of Power will host a National Conference on AI/ML in the Power Distribution Sector on 6–7 December 2025 in New Delhi, showcasing innovations in smart metering, analytics, and digital power systems under RDSS.

The Ministry of Power will host a National Conference on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the Power Distribution Sector as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). This event is scheduled for December 6–7, 2025, in New Delhi. It will gather key government agencies, DISCOMs, technology providers, and smart metering partners to showcase innovations in India's changing digital power landscape.
REC Limited, the lead agency, and Power Finance Corporation (PFC) are co-organizing the conference. Its goal is to highlight effective use cases of smart meter data analysis, integrated IT and OT systems, AI-driven automation, and smart home technologies that improve efficiency, lower losses, and enhance consumer experiences across power distribution companies.
The conference will include presentations from 35 selected organizations, such as DISCOMs, Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Providers (AMISPs), Technology Solution Providers (TSPs), and Home Automation Solution Providers (HASPs). These sessions will center on AI and ML applications in areas like demand forecasting, revenue protection, system integration, cost optimization, and mobile apps for consumers and field staff.
Notable innovations will be featured in a special session with the Honorable Minister of Power on the second day, along with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding technological contributions.
Organizations interested in showcasing their AI, ML, and smart metering solutions can submit applications until midnight on November 21, 2025. The organizing committee will finalize participation based on screening and relevance.
This event is expected to significantly influence India's digital transformation in the power distribution sector through AI.
