The line would be expectedly to ease the traffic congestion once operational.

After receiving approval from the Central government, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) began civil works for the Yellow Line in 2017. The earlier deadline was set for early 2023, and the civil works were only completed in 2024 owing to the late arrival of train sets.

The plan was earlier accorded to open seven stations on the Yellow line with the trains running every 15 minutes. BMRCL, however, is planning to make all 16 stations operational using three driverless trains running at an interval of 25 minutes.

The Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd will be supplying trains for the Yellow Line to BMRCL, and has already delivered three train sets ready to be deployed. A fourth train set has been dispatched and is expected to arrive soon.

With the complete arrival of fourth train set, the trains would be subjected to safety and operational checks before being inducted into service. The operation would take around a month to come into operation.

Therefore, in full capacity, the Yellow Line will operate 15 trains, significantly reducing waiting times, although this level of service is expected only by next year.
