Assam Governor inaugurated 'NRL Center of Excellence' at IIT Guwahati
The facility is the outcome of an industry-academia collaborative effort between Numaligarh Refinery Limited and IIT Guwahati.
Guwahati: The Hon'ble Governor of Assam, Shri Gulab Chand Katariya, inaugurated the NRL Center of Excellence for Sustainable Materials Translational Facility on Bioplastic at IIT Guwahati on 20th May 2023.
The facility is the outcome of an industry-academia collaborative effort between Numaligarh Refinery Limited and IIT Guwahati.

In addition to housing a 100 Litre Biodegradable polymer plant, the translational facility has a range of equipment related to the downstream processing of bio-degradable plastics such as Blown Film Machine, Injection Moulding, Thermoforming, Cast Film Extruder etc.

The establishment has the ability to manufacture a wide variety of items, including carry bags, toys, cutlery, decorative items, and small furniture, among others both from normal and biodegradable polymers
