New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) marked a major sustainability milestone with the inauguration of a 210 KWp Rooftop Solar Power Plant (RTSSP) at its Bengaluru Complex. The new facility was inaugurated by Mr. Rajnish Sharma, Director (BG Complex), in the presence of Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, General Manager (CS) and Chief Officer.

With this commissioning, BEL has now achieved 100% utilization of all feasible rooftop spaces for solar energy generation at its Bengaluru campus. This accomplishment positions BEL as the first Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in India to attain RE100 status, meaning it meets 100% of its electricity requirements from renewable energy sources.

BEL’s renewable journey began in 2012 with a modest 30 KWp solar installation at the same complex. Over the years, the company has steadily expanded its green footprint, culminating in the installation of a massive 2.6 MWp rooftop solar capacity, underscoring its deep commitment to clean energy, climate responsibility, and sustainable development.

The achievement forms a key pillar of BEL’s broader vision to become a Net Zero company, reinforcing its leadership in environmental stewardship within India’s defence and manufacturing sectors.
