Coal India's first fully run dispensary by women started in SECL
Women will take charge of the Vasant Vihar dispensary located at the headquarters in Bilaspur.

Taking an initiative towards women empowerment, Vasant Vihar dispensary, located at SECL headquarters, was formally inaugurated as Coal India's first fully run dispensary by women.
This innovative initiative was inaugurated by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Mr. Harish Duhan. On this occasion, Director Technical (Operations & Planning) Mr. N. Franklin Jaikumar, Director (Human Resources) Mr. Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) Mr. D. Sunil Kumar and Chief Vigilance Officer Mr. Himanshu Jain were also prominently present.

Under this initiative, which is considered a strong step towards women's empowerment, now women will take over the entire responsibility of Vasant Vihar dispensary. It includes all the staff from doctors, nurses, pharmacists to others. The 14-member women team taking charge of the dispensary includes 5 doctors, matron, staff nurse, pharmacist etc.
Speaking on the occasion, CMD Shri Harish Duhan said:
“It is a matter of great pride for us that Coal India’s first fully women-run dispensary has been started in SECL. The vision of Hon’ble Coal Minister is to increase the participation of women in the coal sector and provide them leadership opportunities. This initiative is our meaningful effort in that direction, and we will continue such efforts in the future as well.”
Director (HR) Shri Biranchi Das lauded the initiative and said, “We are fully committed to providing equal opportunities to women. This initiative of Vasant Vihar dispensary is a concrete step towards women empowerment.”
The following medical facilities will be provided in the dispensary:
• OPD Services
• Casualty Services
• Dressing and Injection Room
• ECG
• Blood Collection Centre for Pathology Testing
• OPD Pharmacy
• Emergency and Referral Services

This initiative will not only increase the quality and sensitivity in health services, but will also provide a new platform to the leadership potential of women in the coal industry.
