ACC Approves Extension of Additional Charge for Director (Finance), SCI

The Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Department of Personnel & Training, through letter dated January 21, 2025, has communicated that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted approval to the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

This proposal sought ex-post facto approval for the extension of the additional charge of the position of Director (Finance) at the Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI).

The additional charge, which had previously been entrusted to Shri Atul Ubale, Director (B&T), SCI, has now been extended for a further period of six months, effective from September 7, 2024. The extension will remain in effect until one of the following occurs: the regular incumbent of the post assumes charge, or further instructions are issued. This decision reflects the ACC’s continued support of the Ministry’s proposal and ensures continuity in the leadership of the finance division of SCI during this period.

Shri Atul Ubale, who currently serves as the Director (B&T) at SCI, will continue to manage the responsibilities of Director (Finance) in an additional capacity for the duration of this extension, ensuring that the organization’s financial operations remain effective and in line with the company’s objectives. The decision underscores the importance of maintaining seamless operations within SCI during this transitional phase, until a permanent appointment is made.
