New Delhi, 24rd February 2026: A high-level meeting was held in Mumbai between Dr. B. Radhakrishnan, CMD of Mahagenco, and Anandji Prasad, Director (Technical) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) to address critical issues regarding coal supply, quality, and commercial settlements.

Key Highlights of the Meeting

  • Attendance: Senior officials from Mahagenco, including CMD and concerned department heads, along with Shri Temurnikar, GM (M&S) WCL, and RSM, CIL Mumbai, were present.

  • Payment of Outstanding Dues: WCL requested Mahagenco to ensure timely payments for monthly coal supplies and raised the issue of ₹699 Crores pending PI dues.

  • Coal Supply from Ukni-Pimpalgaon: WCL proposed acceptance of 3.4357 MTY coal from Ukni-Pimpalgaon Expansion OC for upcoming power plants, emphasizing that this would reduce costs by approximately ₹1,500 per tonne compared to the current Ukni CP project.

  • Action Plan: CMD, Mahagenco directed concerned officials to review the proposal and submit recommendations for final approval.

The discussions concluded on a positive note, with both parties agreeing to work towards ensuring regular coal supplies, timely payments, and cost optimization for future power projects.
